Prevention is better than cure
Make sure you have a reputable Anti-Virus / Anti-Spyware / Internet Security application on your computer with regular updates. This scans all emails and your full system regularly reducing the chance of you getting a virus, spyware, malware or a trojan.
Beware when opening unsolicited emails that there may be something in there you don't want.
